Desde hace meses y años veo pasar a los omnibuses destartalados que circulan por Reducto, 28 de Julio y Paseo de la República, destrozando las pistas sobre las que pasan y dejando tras de ellos el infaltable rastro de humo negro asqueroso y contaminante. Si bien es una imagen que me revuelve el hígado, finalmente me quedaba tranquilo con la certeza de que una vez entrado en funcionamiento el Metropolitano, esas carcachas iban a desaparecer de una vez y para siempre. No quedaba otra, con una inversión tan importante como la del Metropolitano, era imposible que se les permitiera a esos buses miserables seguir transitando por vías paralelas tan cercanas a la flamante obra de Castañeda.
Pero no señores, nada puede ser tan simple y bueno. El Metropolitano funciona regularmente desde el 28 de Julio en su tramo Sur, sin embargo los viejos omnibuses (y otros no tan viejos) siguen haciendo la misma ruta “temporal” que adoptaron al inicio de las obras del Metropolitano. No ha habido chatarreo ni rutas “alternas”, no ha habido reestructuración, no ha habido racionalización. Lo que ha habido es una cagada olímpica en el contrato (que impide que haya rutas regulares de transporte público a 400 metros a cada lado del corredor segregado del Metropolitano) y una burla a todos los pacientes conductores que esperábamos que, al final del suplicio que significó la obra, tendríamos alguna tregua en la tortura macabra que significa manejar en nuestra ciudad.
Me parece bien que se haga obras como el Metropolitano y cualquier otra que ayude a reducir a la bestia maldita en que se ha convertido el tránsito en Lima. Si bien en la ejecución ha habido no pocas fallas, creo que el producto final va a ser bueno y que es el primer paso en la dirección correcta. Pero por favor ¡FUERA LOS OMNIBUSES CHARCHEROSOS, REDUNDANTES, DESTARTALADOS Y CONTAMINANTES!
